Haggai 01 - Consider Your Ways - Audio

This is the verse-by-verse audio teaching of Haggai 1:1-7. The Book of Haggai is the most precisely dated book of the entire Bible. Haggai 1:1 gives us the exact date when the prophet received a powerful word from the Lord. September 1, 520 B.C. not only tells us the date but it lets us know how long the Jews had stopped working on the Temple (in Ezra 4) - approximately 16 years. The Lord was no longer their priority because the people had new priorities. The Lord says that the people were saying that it was not the right time to build God's Temple. Yet, they had plenty of time to build their own nice, "paneled" houses. God did not mention anything about enemies or lack of resources. The problem was an issue of the heart. "Consider your ways," the Lord of hosts says. Think carefully about what is happening to you. They had plenty of seed, food, drink, and clothes, but nothing satisfied them. It was God who was opposing them. They were using wood intended for God's house on their own houses. This is much like what is happening in today's church world - Christians take what belongs to God and using for their own purposes. What a desecration!
