This is a verse-by-verse audio teaching of Haggai 1:8-15. The Lord commands the people to "go up" and get wood and "build" My house. The word of the Lord directly to all of them revealed that the state of the economy matched the state of the Temple - both were in ruins! They were just now "considering their ways" and noticing that lack, emptiness, withholding, and drought were plaguing every part of their lives. Verse 11 shows that 9 different areas of their lives were ruined by drought - a drought that God Himself had called! The turning point comes in verse 12 when the 2 leaders and the remnant of the people OBEY God's word through the prophet. Haggai was one of the few prophets in the history of Israel that was obeyed. The reassuring words of God's presence and help came when He said, "I am with you." Believers can do any work of God as long as He is with us. This is the incarnational Emmanuel. Finally, the Lord of hosts Himself had to stir up, arouse, energize, motivate, and empower His people for the great task of rebuilding the house of God. In 23 short days, the people went from disobedience to obedience. The student lecture notes, homework, and PowerPoint file for this audio teaching are above.
