This is a verse-by-verse audio teaching of Haggai 2:10-19. The 21st day of the 7th month was the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles. It was one of the 3 great feasts in Israel that all Hebrew males had to attend - and they could not attend empty-handed. However, because of the people's disobedience, they lacked and had little to eat, let alone, offer to God. The message of this section is directed at one particular group - the priests. Haggai asks them two questions. The bottom-line of verses 12-13 is that holiness is not contagious, but defilement definitely is contagious. Just like health cannot be passed on to others, but sickness is definitely spread, so were these people, they were defiled because of their disobedience to God, and nothing that they offered was acceptable to Him. At the laying of the foundation of the Lord's temple, the prophet looks back at the past in verses 16-17, and then looks forward to the future in verses 18-19. He reflects on their lack and cursing in the first two verses; but now, if they are obedient, they will experience the abundance and blessing of God.
