Evangelism 07 - Fishers Of Men - Audio

If you are not "fishing for men," you are not following Jesus Christ! This is the conclusion that Pastor Charlie draws in this important teaching on evangelism. Starting with the famous call of 4 fishermen in Matthew 4:18-22, he looks at what it means to be a "fisher of men." Jesus did not pick the rich, famous, wealthy, kings, queens, athletes, scholars, poets, actors, or royalty. He chose simple fishermen to go do the most important task of all - fishers of men. In Mark 1:16-20 he studies the call itself. There is no other ministry more important for the Christian believer than this one. What a tremendous privilege we have before God - that we can be used as His instruments to bring eternal salvation to lost men and women. And yet, so few Christians are engaged in it. Finally, we look at Luke 5:1-11. These fishermen did not fish with single-line poles but with nets. Jesus gives them the powerful illustration of gathering so many fish that their nets were breaking, their boats were sinking, and they were amazed at the catch. Do you see that, Jesus said, but now you will "catch men!" It's important to note that they, as expert fishermen, fished all night and caught nothing. They would do that again in John 21 after the resurrection. But Jesus told them to "launch into the deep," and they would find God's true catch. This is an important audio teaching to encourage evangelism among believers.
