In this fourth teaching of the series on "tithes and offerings," Pastor Charlie gives some powerful principles of giving. We must break the spirit of poverty that says, "If I give to the Lord, I will have less and less. I will be diminished." This is totally false. We then focus on 1 Corinthians 9, where Paul speaks about the "rights" of an apostle regarding giving. He quotes from the Old Testament to establish tithing in the New Testament. You cannot muzzle the ox that's treading out the corn. We look at the widow who gave two small copper coins to see how Jesus looks at giving. We also review the parable of the talents and minas. Finally, we look at the eternal perspective in Matthew 6:19-24 - we can only serve one master - either God or money. We must lay up treasures in heaven not on earth.
